Thanks again to JimJ740.

There will be a thread at MR, but also feel free to post results here.

I have tried in both cMP 5,1 in a PCIE slot, and via TB in a 6,1 nMP.

It's faster in 5,1, by the way. But a hack with PCIE 3 should show some nice numbers. And if the Hack were to be based on a board with NVMe support via EFI, may even boot from it.

Just copied that new NVME.kext to my CLOVER EFI partition into the kext folder, restarted, Carbon Copy cloned my EL CAPITAN from Samsung SM951 to a new SAMSUNG SM950PRO NVME drive, restarted... and guess what: it works perfectly.

Got a well improved stable system now running El Capitan 10.11.2. Well done and a big Thank You to the developer

But speed in Disk Speed Test about 700 / 700 because of M 2 on x99 ud4. Waiting for PCI X4 adapter

So, does this mean I can get an Asus Maximus VIII Impact mini ITX motherboard with a connected Intel 750 Series 2.5" NVMe SSD to actually BOOT OS X?

I want to use the 400GB model of aforementioned SSD as my sole system drive…

Sounds like you're asking in regards to a Hackintosh setup. No idea, we do not use Hackintoshes whatsoever.

Sorry if any confusion on my part, I originally found out about these drivers from a Hackintoh-specific website…

Hmm, I tested with Samsung NVMe in 2013 nMP via Sonnet, worked fine. Make sure that you installed the kext properly and used the terminal command to fix perms.

I use 3 various kext installers, when I try to use terminal command (that going with driver in faq.txt) to fix perms its says that: user name invalid and so on. So I use fix permission from utilities and they give it system permission all, all other users read.

I'm trying to install a Samsung 950Pro in a Mac Pro 5,1 (upgraded from 4,1) running yosemite 10.10.5 using the lycom PCIe adapter in x16 slot (i think it's slot3, slot4 has video card?).

The kext is moved into /Library/Extensions but I am unable to set root.wheel ownership. The chown command errors with "chown: –R: illegal user name".

Is the driver compatible with yosemite? Any advice what to try?

As stated on the download page we are not the developer of the NVME driver, we simply host it for him. The developer is JimJ740 on the MacRumors forums, if you have questions regarding the driver you can direct them to him.

Anyone get the 950 to work in TB? I have 950 NVMe and 951NVMe .
The 951 works great 1200MB/s write and 1200MB/s read.
However it see the 950 and does not load the driver.
The 950 is works in PC.

Hi there! Have the same issue.
nMP 6,1 + Sonnet Echo Express III-d + some china nvme key.M to pcie (tried two different) - and nothing happens...

The system doesn't even boot if the chassis is connected via thunderbolt cable (or if the card is installed).

Is it possible to boot Windows 7 from DC P3600 on Mac Pro ? I'm running Areca ARC-1882IX with 8x300 GB SSD drives right now, but it slows booting like hell.

I want to understand, you think the kext should not go into 10.11 clover folder, but in LE, maybe he's the problem I have?

Hi,

I am one of the smartmontools authors. We implemented NVMe support in the smartctl/smartd for the Linux/FreeBSD/Windows. I can add OSX support as well, but i did not found any ioctl description for your driver. Could you please open it? If yes, please let me know or open ticket on the smartmontools.org web site.

Did the owners of Samsung 950 Pro plugged into M.2 slot like in Rampage V achieved successful sleep on that hackintosh? I can't achieve sleep in mine?

No luck with sleep here -- getting "System sleep prevented by H000" logged. Believe a few other folks are as well.

That said, this is nothing to complain about. Driver is awesome, as is booting from NVMe on X99. Thanks Jim, and thanks MVC!

OUTSTANDING!!! I now have a 256GB NVMe SSD on my Mac Pro 3.1

I have to manually load/unload the kext to avoid kernel panic but that's not a big issue.

Getting 700MB/s but my Mac only has PCIe v2.

Still way faster than any other drive in my Mac.

THANK YOU!!

Is there a solution to run the Intel 750 PCIe on a Mac Pro 4.1 or 5.1?

Still about installing the SSD Intel 750 PCIe on a 4.1/5.1 Mac Pro with Mac OSX High Sierra.

Is that possible to make accepting NVMe on the Mac Pro?
