mojave is here ! now we just wait for drivers

Please hold off updating if you have an Nvidia card that needs the Web Driver.

UPDATE: READ THE ABOVE SENTENCE !!!

See the title again if not sure what that means

I can't make this any clearer, really, I can't.

If you honestly can't wait another day for a dancing poo emoji, run the update on another machine.

Yeah, no shit. The web is full of comments from very unhappy Mac users who pulled the trigger (a bit early in my opinion) and are suffering the consequences. I'm leaving well along until its properly sorted. TBH my Mac Pro in High Sierra and a GTX980Ti is absolutely fine.

I went ahead and upgraded to Mojave on my cMP 5,1 with your Titan X (Maxwell) card just because the 501 driver had become so borked I couldn’t even use Safari any more. It runs fine for most uses under the native OSX driver — just nothing that requires hardware acceleration. I probably needed to take a break from Second Life anyway. 😜

Thanks for the info. Probably silly question: If My GTX 1070 were mac flashed, would it need the web driver?

Yes, it will boot, but there won't be acceleration.

I updated on a test drive to see what did not work.
Video players like the new DVD player and Switch will
only give a black screen.

I've found that the GTX 780 that I bought from here is not supported by Mojave's installer. High Sierra does list the card as being supported by Metal, but Mojave's installer does not accept it.

I've sent an email to MacVidCards to find out if there's a workaround, but I've yet to hear back from them.

Use dosdude1's Mojave patcher http://dosdude1.com/mojave/ . It will patch out the metal check in the installer. It only works for a clean install tho. Hope this helps.

Hey Jeff -

Thanks for the tip. I saw that too but I haven't had a chance to try it out.

Do you know if the patched install preserves all of the GPU's performance and functionality, e.g., no video glitches, etc.?

My concern is that the installer may cooperate, but there may not be a driver on the disk for the GPU.

John,

There shouldn't be any adverse effects from just using the patched installer. It is doing the exact same thing a recovery usb would do. I'm not saying to use the post install patches which would modify Mac OS, just the installer. The point I was trying to make is that you could use it as a method of getting the installer to ignore what GPU is plugged into the computer. However, I've experienced firsthand that Nvidia cards are working really badly on Mojave even with a patched driver. I'd wait a little before jumping over if you need GPU hardware acceleration.

yes, need to run from 10.13.6 after the efi update

early 780 doesn't need web drivers, and is fully metal supported

I have a Mac Pro (mid 2010) 2x2,66Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon, 24Gb 1066MHz DDR3 and NVidia GeForce GTX 780 3072MB. Connected to Samsung 4K TV.

Netflix, HBO ... well HTML5 don't work.

When I try to accés Netflix the Safafi returns about silverlight and HTML 5.

If I use Crome it runs correctly.

Hey.. i got a Mac mid-2012, with Titan X with macvid firmware.. tried installing Mojave by launching Installer within High sierra, and it crashes on booting...

Tried installing from Mojvae from USB, and get an error message saying no Metal card and disable Filevault (which is not turned on)...

is the card compatible? anyone come across this issue before?

"ALL OF OUR 4,1/5,1 CARDS HAVE METAL SUPPORT AND ARE SOLID IN MOJAVE"

Turns out, no.

Got it working, but very slugish and weird artifacts in menu bars.

Not happy.

The driver has not yet been released for 10.14 so I'm not surprised its sluggish. If/when Nvidia release a driver supporting 10.14 your issue will be resolved.

My GPU, a GTX 780 is advertised as not needing a web driver. This statement does not apply to all customers.

no drivers means you are using our eFI only

patience is needed

This seems to be the longest it has ever taken NVIDIA to get the web driver updated.

Wonder what's the problem ...

Dear, I have a "GTX 780 Titan" purchased by you on a "MacPro 4.1", updating "High Sierra" to "Mojave" with "Mojave Patcher" known that Nvidia is not accelerated. Do you think the "hardware acceleration" problem will be solved with a driver? Does your card support Metal? Sorry but I'm ignorant in this area. Thank you very much for your availability. Marco

please get clear on some things, you either have a 780 or you have a Titan, it can't be both

if from original series, it should work without the Web drivers

If not, you have to wait

As with every major macOS update I want to do a clean install. But this time when I start installation from a bootable USB drive I will eventually get the message:

"Installing macOS Mojave on this Mac requires that all graphic cards have Metal support and that FileVault is disabled.
Visit https://support.apple.com/kb/HT208898 to learn more about the installation requirements for this Mac."

This is a Mid 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 with a flashed GTX 980 Ti.

All the dialog box offers is to Quit. No way to even get further into the installation.

What's there to do? Install macOS 10.13.x and then upgrade to 10.14? What other options are there?

I was having the same issue with a GTX680. I use GTX1070 but no drivers yet. :(
So, what I did was installing High Sierra on a fresh drive and then run the update to Mojave through there.
And it worked.

cheers

This worked for me too.

I did a clean install of 10.13.6 and then started the Mojave installer from my USB key once I was logged in. What was different about this method for me was that the Mojave installer notified me that a firmware upgrade was necessary to proceed with the install. This did not occur when I booted directly from the USB key.

Once the firmware update was complete, the Mojave installer ran without any problems.

This is with a Mac Pro 5,1 and a GTX 780. I used the migration assistant to transfer my apps and docs over to the new installation. Everything is running well so far and there have been no video glitches so far.

The drivers will be released in 2-3 weeks as they just started working on them. Previously the drivers were made during beta phase, now since final stage.

Some much miss information, conjecture, guessing, and downright ignorance that it's tough to give anyone a straight answer.

Regarding the GTX 780. There were two models - one with the so called "a" chip (early models) and one with the "b" chip. The "a" chips are rarer, those will work with the OEM Mac drivers. The "b" chip requires Nvidia Web Drivers.

Everyone having trouble with no acceleration and artifacts must have a flashed GTX 780 "b" chip or later GPU that requires Nvidia Web Drivers to run properly. Those without a flashed card will only get a black screen. Also, it is my understanding that an Nvidia card without an EFI will not be recognized by the Mojave installer and will not run.

Will the GTX 970 4gb version flashed by you guys work with Mojave?

just got the first 'i want to return my gtx because it doesn't work in mojave" email.

geez, louise people APPLE CREATED THE WEB DRIVER MESS 1

they used to include drivers in the OS, like they do for AMD.

they shut Nvidia out in the cold to save a few bucks, now we wait

but Mojave not supporting a 970 is neither MVC's fault, or Nvidia.

Try looking in Cupertino.

or wait a few days...

Does this mean Mojave will not support the GTX 970 because it is not metal compatible or we have to wait for the drivers? I am more than willing to wait for the drivers but still don't know if the GTX 970 is metal compatible.

Please advise.

Respectfully yours
Tim

each and every nvidia card going back to FERMI is Metal compatible

you can see for yourself in 10.13.6, look at card in profiler, will show this

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3072 MB is listed as not requiring a web driver. Should I assume it will work with Mojave at this time?

Happy 2019 everyone!!

Is there any update about the NVIDIA Drivers? I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 I bought here... Mojave is already on version 14.2. What's keeping them?

Comment above on 9/29/2018 02:50:36 pm from MacVidCards Europe said 2 - 3 weeks. Am I missing something?
