Egpu cards coming soon for mac pro 6,1

Hey everyone,

After years of testing and finessing, we think it's about time.

We have a wonderful new product that will open up many options for owners of the "Cylinder" nMP 6,1.

First up will be public benchmarks on a well known site. Both OSX High Sierra and Windows 10 running Titan Xp. These are both feats not accomplished by any other source on the internet. As in NOBODY ELSE has gotten eGPU to work in either scenario.

MVC is the undisputed leader in Mac EFI GPUs. And we are about to spread into the eGPU world. More news soon.

Is it for Mac Pro only or eGPU use as well?

Hi, good questions.

The first cards will be targeted for Mac Pro 6,1, allowing easy eGPU in High Sierra and Windows 10, as Barefeats is about to confirm.

I believe that card will also work in Macbook Air 2015 as well, and possibly a few others.

After that, if the "sticky finger" crowd can control themselves, we (or Netkas) may release an app that allows High Sierra Nvidia eGPU on most Macs.

Problem is last time we did this with a little $20 app, Goalie copy & pasted the tech into his own app with a week. There is little incentive to go through all the trouble again if this will be the case. He delayed eGPU for entire Mac community by his actions.

Truth be told, this is why we never released the nMP Windows solution(s) and will be hesitant to do a general mod app for High Sierra. If we could get a promise from the folks over there, things would move faster for everyone.

I see. Is it possible to release it closed source or people will find how it was done?

One other idea would be the following: name a price on it. Say something like GUYS I WANT $20K TO RELEASE THE SOLUTION. Then people interested on it can make a crowdfund for that. You get your deserved money for it and people get the solution :D

I second the crowd funding idea or get a bunch of preorders. This is promising and hopefully we will have a way to do this soon!

Hey all, very exciting news!

I can't comment on the alleged actions of individuals in the past. However I can say that there are a whole community of good people out there that are willing to share and to give up their time for the benefit of others. In my case, for example, I am not particularly technical - but I have helped with testing and writing guides (with all my own hardware) and helping out other people as much as possible. If you have a good solution then I respectfully ask you to consider the many and not the few that might spoil it for everyone else. Of course it's up to you and I completely respect that you can do what you want with your hard work, even if that means it doesn't go public.

I don't know much about software licensing but maybe you can license your solution and then you could have legal recourse for anyone that contravenes it?

In any case, sounds like you have done some great work so big congrats and I hope to see it in the wild in future! (otherwise I'll be buying an AMD card!)

All the best. Dan.

Check out this video I made on how to get the Nvidia EGPU's working in a bootcamp installation of windows 10 on a late 2016 13" Macbook Pro.

Egpu's work fine on a Macbook Pro in bootcamp. We are talking about Mac Pro Trashcans here.
