don't update to 10.15.5 with EFI 5700

6/3/2020

Our friends in Cupertino have broken support for EFI 5700 in 10.15.5.

Stay on 10.15.4 until we get a fix. If your 5700 has a ROM switch and you are on 10.15.5, you can use the PC side to work around for now.

Will update as we find solution.

Is there a 10.15.6 fix for the 5700XT?

Also, is there a performance difference between the "large" and the "regular"?

Wanted to post and see if there was a fix or has been fixed on 10.15.6. I'm still running on 10.15.4 with my 5700 XT. Has anyone with this card updated to 10.15.6 working properly?

The 'Netkas fix' worked again for me... I applied it to my cMP5.1 with an MVC 5700XT after upgrading to 10.15.6.
All is well and working without issue apart from the resume from sleep panic...

Ok so the only way to make the 5700 XT to work on 10.15.6 is to do the "Netkas fix".

I a beginner with command promp. When I tried doing it back on 10.15.5, it would not work for me so I just stayed on 10.15.4. Krammer can you make a YT instruction video?

Can someone verify the new update 10.15.7 fixed the issue?

Per the article, apple fixed the 5700XT issue on iMacs:

I did the update 10.15.7. This did not fix the issue, I spent a lot of money so I could have the boot screen.

10.15.7 still needs our patch to work:

curl -qLs https://pics.macvidcards.eu/fix5700.sh > fix5700.sh; sudo sh fix5700.sh; rm fix5700.sh

My order was completed and sent within 4 days of payment. (took another 10 days for the card to make its way through the postal service lol). The card, so far, is working great!

Are you still working on a fix for 5700xt 10.15.5?

Yes, we are still working on a fix. Patch is also now shortened. You just type one command in safe mode, reboot and all is working again.

Ok, what is the command? I have a macvid cards 5700xt and I'm running 10.15.6. Installing the card in my 2010 5.1 is a no go with kernel panics.

So I did this, but my cMP keep booting into safe mode. Is there a way to fix this?

Upgrade from 10.15.6 to 10.15.7 went smooth. Our patch is still working just in case:

curl -qLs https://pics.macvidcards.eu/fix5700.sh > fix5700.sh; sudo sh fix5700.sh; rm fix5700.sh

Reinstalled the MacVidCards 5700xt in my MacPro 5.1 and tried your patch today. It worked smoothly without a lot complicated steps in terminal. Running 10.15.6. Geekbench compute score is 66672. Much improved over the RX580 (41557) I took out. Scrubbing 4k video is much smoother with many fewer dropped frames. Big thank you to MacVidCards Europe for the patch.

HI, I ran the update then highlights and folders went orange and the color system is totally out of wack. The Macos Catalina Patcher came up with a message to run a patch for Nightshift which I did. Do you have any sugesstions?

guys just get cards off the sellers on ebay, i've bought a few over the last few months from the boys based in the UK and have had no issues whatsoever. MVC does a great job hacking the cards but customer service sucks.

This is MacVidCards USA, while we are a different company located in Europe. Only product is the same and customer service is way better. All cards are shipped within 24h. Delivery is within 2-7 days. We've never sold any customer card as we note every serial number and model. The US guys are probably affected with COVID-19 hence there is no contact with them.

Hey all, I got a APPLE EFI AMD RADEON RX580 8GB... I got it to boot up which is good. BUT its showing only 14 Megs of Ram.... and shows some artifacts. I am wondering if its the Ktext loader I used when trying to get a non flashed RX580 up. Any suggestions of what to try? I did email support but no word back yet. Id like to get the system functioning again. PS. I am running Catalina. Thanks for any tips.

Hello, these cards doesn't require any extra kexts. Just clean installation of Catalina with DosDude patcher and all will work just fine.

thanks. I ended up doing a fresh install and seems to work now. Must have been something from the Ktext updater or just the first non flashed card I tried. IDK.... but in case anyone else runs into the the problem... my new card showed 14MB VRAM.... ended up doing a clean instal with the DudeDos1 patch and the system seems to be working now. thanks all.

The good news is Big Sur works with out flashed cards out of the box - no extra patches needed.

I realize this thread is about the 5700xt, but as of 10.14.7 or so, my Vega 56 (8gb) that I bought new/pre-flashed from you guys stopped showing the boot screen.

I updated to Catalina with the DudeDos patching just fine, but still no boot screen. Is there a fix or workaround I can implement for this? It's the whole reason I bought the card. Any help is appreciated!

Please flip the BIOS dip switch on top of the card.
